How I Rate Books

5 Star
Great book!  Fast paced, not wanting to put it down.  Characters and plot are well developed, pulling me into the story.  Something about this book relates to me on a personal level.  A book that will be read again.

4 Star
Good, solid book.  Characters were well developed along with the plot and little details that made something stand out.  Something small is missing for a 5 Star rating (e.g., figuring out the “mystery” before the end of the book).

3 Star
Decent, casual book.  It had an interesting plot and developed characters that held my attention.  The book was at a slower pace, one where I might set it down for several days before picking it back up.  Great for a one time read, but won’t be picking it up again.

2 Star
Book held my attention, but I finished it because I started it.  Characters and plot were developed to a level that allowed me to continue on with the story.

1 Star
Book just didn’t keep my interest.  Either it took too long to get engrossed in the book or the subject wasn’t quite what I thought it might be.  Unfortunately, the book has too many major issues with the plot line or the characters.

DNF
Did not finish.  Just couldn’t get past the first few pages.  Had no desire to even skip to the last few chapters to see how the book ends.  This rating is rare, but does happen from time to time.
